National Assembly Service Commission Harps on Legislative Process

The National Assembly Service Commission, has organized a three day workshop on Law making processes in the National Assembly.

Declaring the workshop open, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr Ahmed Amshi, said the training was aimed at promoting efficiency and diligence in the National Assembly.

Mr Amshi said that the National Assembly as the symbol of Democracy needs to keep its staff abreast with work ethics.

The Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr Yahayya Danzaria, said the training would bring about forthrightness in the conduct of the National Assembly staff, ensure optimum service output and serve as a means of enlightenment and constant reminder of staff oath of office as civil servants.

It is to build institutions that will compete among developed parliaments in the democratic community around the world. As noted by many scholars of capacity building, the best leader teaches by action and less words, according to Danzaria.

He added that the three day workshop is intended to bring staff to speed on their ethical and behavioral responsibilities and guide them to their legislative processes.

The Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr Ojo Amos, explained that training and re-training of staff was one of the cardinal objectives of the National Assembly.
