SENATOR JULIUS ALI UCHA was born on 19th October, 1958 at Onunweke Ezekuna Autonomous Community of Old Ezzagu Zone of Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He was called to the Nigerian Bar after obtaining his L.L.B and BL from the Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH) and the Nigerian Law School respectively. Senator Ucha has vast experience in teaching, public service and politics; having taught in both primary and secondary schools, served as a Finance Clerk at the Nigerian Cement Company, Nkalagu (all in Ebonyi State). He was the pioneer Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chairman, Senate Committees on Sports and Works (at different times), Chairman, Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, Rivers State, and Member, old Enugu State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy. Senator Ucha was a private Legal Practitioner before he joined politics in 1999. He has made and is still making valuable contributions to humanity in the areas of human rights, economic empowerment, good governance, prisoners welfare and release, healthcare for the less privileged, women empowerment, and provision of scholarship/student bursaries to the less privileged, among other interventions through his NGO, Humanity Foundation. The former gubernatorial candidate of the defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State; is also a BOT Member of APC and represents the South-East in the Commission.
